One month old

Gibson turned one month old last Monday (7/18). He is growing so fast! He weighed in at 9 lbs 12 1/2 oz at his one month check up and is now too big for the newborn diapers. He is still sleeping pretty good and is an all around good baby. The "how to" books tell me he should be smiling back at us any day now. I can't wait for that. We have decided that I am only going back to work part time so I can spend more time with my sweet little man. I just couldn't imagine putting him in daycare when he is so young and little. I am so grateful that I have the option to not go back full time. Since I will be working at the office 2 days a week, we need to find a part time nanny which is what I have been working on the past few days. We interviewed a nice girl on Saturday and have another one tonight. Wish us luck! Other than that, I have also started a new hobby, photography. I am taking a basic photography/lighting with my sister on Wednesday nights and love it. My wonderful husband was nice enough to allow me to get a super nice and expensive camera. Gibson is my designated model so lucky for you, I will be taking/posting a lot of pictures documenting his life.

Believe it or not, we did NOT do this to his hair on purpose. This is how it looks after his baths when we towel dry his hair.

Three's Company

Lane (Gibson's cousin) loves him some Gibson. Every time we go over to my sister's house he wants to hold him, feed him and pet him. He tells us how "very very very TEENY" Gibson is. Last night I went over by myself to pick my sister up for a movie and Lane asked me twice if I brought Gibson and seemed very disappointed that he wasn't there. I have a feeling they are going to grow up to be BFFs...

The first couple of weeks

We just got back from the 2 week checkup with our pediatrician and Gibson weighed in at 8 lbs and 5 1/2 oz (50th percentile). The doctor was very happy with his weight gain. G-man was not so happy with the heel prick they did but he made it through like a champ. His height and head circumference were both in the 75th percentile. Today was my first day at home with our little guy by myself. It was pretty relaxing considering he sleeps 20 hours a day. He of course waited until I got in the shower to wake up from napping. For entertainment we have been going on morning walks every day with the pups and I have been reading our "baby help" books out loud. I wish there were more ways to entertain our little dude but I know that time will come soon enough.

Love letter

My wonderful sister wrote this sweet little letter to Gibson on her blog:

Gibster,
Sorry, Mister Gibster, but that is the first nickname that popped in my head. I'll call you that until you can tell me otherwise, deal? I wanted to let you know that your mommy has been waiting for you for a long time! For years and years, she's wanted a little baby. And now, she not only has one but she has you! As your favorite aunt, I promise to spoil you like your mom and dad spoil your cousins. I promise to give you cookies whenever you ask. Breakfast, sure! After you brush your teeth at night, no problem! I promise to buy you loud, fun toys. I promise to take care of and get as many stains out of Lane's clothes so you will continue to look like the little stud muffin that you already are. I promise you lots of sleep overs and fun trips. I promise to be a good listener when you want to vent about how uncool your mom and dad are. I promise to try to teach your mom how not to sweat the small stuff :) I promise to let you get as crazy and dirty as you want at our house. I promise to love you unconditionally. I promise to love you as you were my own. I promise to do everything in my power so that you, Lane, Annabelle and any of your future siblings grow up to be one big close-knit, obnoxious family. I promise you there are going to be times when you think our family is crazy and ruining your life. But I can also promise you that we will all do the best we can to raise you to be the wonderful, strong, independent, successful man that I know you will be. Welcome to Earth, Gibster! The world is a better place just because you are in it.

Love,
Aunt Sissy
